Clubs from the English-speaking regions of Cameroon have faced a diverse array of outcomes in both the Elite One and Elite Two championships this season. As we delve into the performances of these teams following Matchday 7 of the top-tier Elite One championship and Matchday 5 of the secondary tier, Elite Two, it’s essential to examine the nuances and details of each team’s journey thus far.
In the Elite One league, the competition has proven to be particularly fierce, leading to a mix of successes and challenges for the participating teams. Some clubs have managed to secure pivotal victories that enhance their league positions, while others have struggled to establish consistency, resulting in an array of wins, draws, and losses.
Defending champions, Victoria United FC, have showcased a strong performance over their last seven matches, achieving four victories, one draw, and two losses. This impressive record has allowed them to accumulate a total of 13 points. Offensively, Victoria United has been effective, finding the net 13 times, while their defense has held up well, conceding only nine goals. Their capability to maintain defensive solidity is reflected in their three clean sheets, where they successfully neutralized their opponents’ attacks. This combination of offensive and defensive strengths has placed Victoria United in a commendable third place in the league standings, setting a solid foundation as they aspire to reclaim the top spot as the season unfolds.

Conversely, PWD Bamenda has experienced a rollercoaster season thus far. Currently, they boast a record that includes two victories, three defeats, and two draws, which totals to eight points on the league table. Their offensive output has been limited, with only five goals scored, while their defensive frailties have led to eight goals being conceded. This means that their goal difference is troubling and exposes vulnerabilities in their backline. However, it’s worth noting that PWD Bamenda has showcased moments of defensive resilience by keeping three clean sheets throughout their seven matches, indicating their potential for improvement. Presently, the club is positioned in 11th place, highlighting a need for consistent performances to climb up the table and avoid the relegation battle.

On the other hand, YOSA has faced a particularly challenging season, as reflected defencer disappointing performance to date. With seven matches played, the team has yet to secure a single victory, which has raised concerns among fans and analysts alike. They have managed to score only four goals, illustrating significant offensive struggles, while their defence has been heavily tested, conceding a total of 15 goals. This has resulted in only one clean sheet across all matches, underlining ongoing issues in their defensive organization. Currently, YOSA occupies the last position on the league table in 16th place, having amassed just two points from two draws against five losses. The pressure is mounting on the squad to turn their fortunes around as the season progresses, with urgency growing for a turnaround in form that would allow them to escape the relegation zone.

In the Elite Two championship, clubs from the English-speaking regions are also navigating a landscape filled with both promising results and significant challenges. Some teams have begun to assert themselves as serious contenders for promotion, displaying talent and determination, while others are grappling with performance issues that they must address to improve their standings.
Bafmeng United has emerged as a dominant force in the Elite Two championship this season, displaying impressive skill and coordination on the pitch. After playing five matches, the team remains unbeaten, claiming three victories and two draws, which highlights their competitive edge. Offensively, Bafmeng United has been particularly effective, netting a total of nine goals throughout their matches. Defensively, they are just as strong, having conceded only three goals, which speaks to their solid backline and effective game management. They have remarkably achieved three clean sheets, showcasing their established defensive strategies and organizational strengths.

ISOHSA has also made a notable impression during the 2024/2025 season in Elite Two. Having played four matches, they have recorded three victories and one draw, accumulating an impressive tally of 10 points. In these games, ISOHSA has demonstrated their attacking capabilities by scoring an impressive eight goals. Their defensive resilience has allowed only four goals against them, indicating a balanced team dynamic. Additionally, they have secured two clean sheets, which reflect their robust defensive strategies and highlight the contributions made by their goalkeeper. Currently, ISOHSA is sitting in a promising 2nd place in Pool A, positioning themselves well as they strive for further success.

On a different note, Ngoketoundja FC has encountered a challenging season thus far. The team has played five matches, and while they have managed to secure two victories, they have also succumbed to three losses. This inconsistent performance has raised questions about their competitiveness in the league. Each game has illustrated areas for improvement, both in their attacking strategies and defensive stability, as they seek to solidify their place and enhance their standings in the upcoming matches. As they move forward in the season, there is a pressing need for Ngoketoundja FC to capitalize on their opportunities to gain momentum and climb the league table.

There is however, time for these struggling clubs to turn the table around while those on good footing can continue to consolidate their positions in the championships.
