The University of Buea,UB, has been officially selected to host Zone C of the Zonal University Games, a significant event in the academic sports calendar.
According to a recent announcement from the Ministry of Higher Education, this exciting competition will take place from July 2 to July 6, 2025.Zone C of the University Games will include a variety of participants, featuring both public institutions and private higher education establishments located in the Littoral and South West Regions of the country. This inclusive approach aims to promote sportsmanship and camaraderie among students from diverse academic backgrounds.
In addition to the University of Buea, the hosting responsibilities have been distributed among several other universities for different zones. Zone A will be hosted by the University of Maroua, while the University of Bertoua will oversee Zone B. The University of Dschang has been appointed to host Zone D. This structured zonal approach marks a departure from previous formats and introduces a new organization to the games.
This upcoming edition of the University Games represents a shift in strategy following the last event held in Garoua. The new zonal format allows for a more localized competition leading up to the national finals, where the strongest universities from each zone will compete for the championship. This change is anticipated to enhance the competitive spirit and showcase the athletic talents of students from various regions.
